Cyberstud is a progressive poker game that pits players against dealer in terms of skill and risk taking. The objective is to come out of a particular hand with the strongest card value above and beyond what the dealer is holding. A traditional 52 card deck is utilized and is shuffled prior to each new hand being dealt. The progressive jackpot is awarded when a player holds a Royal Flush in hand.
Before cards are dealt, a player makes what is referred to as an ante. This is the dollar amount bet placed before play begins. The ante bet is placed on the table in the appropriate circle and the game begins. Once the ante is made, the player receives five cards and the dealer receives one. All cards are dealt face up to both the player and the dealer. Once cards are dealt, a player must decide whether to call the bet or fold the hand.
At the point where a player “calls”, the dealer receives four additional cards. The player must then double the initial ante amount. For an ante bet of $10, the new bet amount needed to start the game would be $20. The face values of the cards are compared between player and dealer. There are four various options available at this stage in the game.
In order to continue with the hand, a dealer must hold an Ace-King combination in the cards dealt. When a dealer does not hold this combination, the player wins the initial ante dollar amount. The call amount bet is considered a push and is not awarded any monetary value. The overall point value of a player’s hand does not factor into the picture for this situation. A dealer not qualifying automatically records as a win for the player.
In the event that a dealer meets that Ace-King combination, a round of play begins. When the player is holding a higher hand value than the dealer, the ante dollar amount is awarded. The table payout chart determines the call bet payout. When the dealer holds a higher hand value than the player, both bet amounts are forfeited. There will be certain instances where the dealer hand and the player hand will maintain the same point value amounts.
This situation is referred to as a push. Here the ante and the call bet amounts are returned to the player. It is a ‘nothing lost, nothing gained’ setting. The best possible hand to be dealt in a game of Cyberstud is a royal flush. This holds an ultimate payout amount of 999 to 1. With such high payouts, it is easy to see why this is also the rarest hand a player can expect to receive. There are some basic strategies that players can adhere to during the game. For starters, when a pair or better is in hand, always place that call bet. Likewise, call if the dealer is showing a card that matches a player card. This reduces the chances of the dealer hitting a pair. Always fold in the event an ace-king combination is not in hand or the dealer is showing either card on the table.
The only drawback to Cyberstud Poker is having no control over which cards are dealt during a hand. For this reason, it is virtually essential that the player maintain control over strategies utilized to play the game. This is achieved by recognizing the ideal times in a game to call or fold once those initial four cards are dealt to the player and the dealer receives the one card. Having this level of focus will enable a player to minimize losses and maximize wins.
